This will help maintain the health of your surrounding gums and maximize the denture’s longevity.
Many denture wearers use denture adhesive to secure their dentures in place. It also has the added benefit of helping prevent stray food particles from working their way between the base of the dentures and your gums.
Should a few stray food particles work their way in, you should thoroughly rinse the dentures and reapply a fresh line of denture adhesive.
You should give your dentures a thorough rinsing when you take them out each night. This will help clear away residual denture adhesive and provide a smooth surface so you can reapply the denture adhesive the next day. You should then brush all the surfaces of your dentures with a soft-bristled toothbrush and a little nonabrasive denture polish. You can then store your denture overnight by soaking it in water and keeping it in a safe place.
Once this is done, you might also want to clean your tongue by brushing it with your toothbrush or a special tongue scraper. This can help remove excess plaque and bacteria for fresher breath.
